Ann
Arbor Film Festival
14 - 19 March
In
its 38th year, the festival has a long-standing tradition of showcasing
16mm independent and experimental films. As an alternative to
commercial cinema, the festival premiered the early efforts of
a budding Brian DePalma, Andy Warhol, or George Lucas, all of
whom entered films early in their careers. The three-member jury
will bestow the Best of the Festival Award and Most Promising
Filmmaker Award. Among the many screenings are two films that
just won awards at the New York Underground Film Festival: The
Manipulators by Andrew Jeffrey Wright and Claire E. Rojas,
and The Vyrontonin Decision by Matt McCormick
