Some filmmakers are prolific. Other, like Christophe Van Rompaey,
are downright astonishing in their productivity.
This budding international directing star, born in Ghent on april
18th, 1970, has produced, directed, written and added more content
in his brief career than most artists do in their entire lifetime.
Other than Ex.#N1870-4, his highlight to-date is his 1996,
11-minute short film Grijs, which was nominated or won awards
at dozens of festivals, including Berlin, Flanders, Brussels, Aspen
Shortsfest, the British Short Film Festival, NY International Shorts,
Barcelona and Silicon Alley.
The film follows a man's unusual encounter with his doppelganger.
Van Rompaey has an exceptional eye for the visually sublime, a brilliantly
creative mind for psychological thrillers, and an unparalleled work
ethic. Other past works include several music videos for Sony Music,
numerous commercials, and various other shorts and features. He
studied at the RITS Film School in Brussels where he got his master's
degree in 1994.
