Far from the glitter of Hollywood, the Fetisch Film Festival (FFF) opens its second edition on 23 February with a selection of films steeped in "sexuality. " Held in two movie theatres in Paris, the FFF is screening 108 films from 14 countries, both long and short films which are for the most part presented as avant-premieres.
Notably, Institut Benjamenta by the Quay brothers adapted from the book by Robert Walser, a retrospective of Maria Beatty (submission guaranteed), the video-creations of artist Yann Minh, as well as Yarasa by Ayas Salayev (Azerbaijan), which won the Grand Prix at the Angers festival. Also on the agenda, a retrospective of "Sex, Money and Power" including classics such as The Street of Sorrow by Pabst, The Nights of Cabiria by Fellini, Two or Three Things I Know About Her by JL Godard or Red Light District by Mizoguchi.
And what exactly is this sexuality distinction of FFF? Different from erotic or pornographic cinema confined to certain sectors. Different from those films that do not clearly show their objective, defined by the organizers as "Hollywood warped visions" better known as Prince Charming/Cinderella stories. The FFF wants to bring sexuality out of the closet.

Sexualités différentes à Paris

Loin, très loin des films glamour d'Hollywood, le Fetisch Film Festival (FFF), dont la deuxième édition s'est ouverte à Paris le mercredi 23 février, propose une sélection de films sur les "sexualités différentes". Au programme des cinémas Action Christine et Espace St Michel, 108 films venus de 14 pays, courts ou longs, inédits pour la plupart et présentés en avant-première.
A noter, le film des frères Quay, Institut Benjamenta, adaptation d'un roman de Robert Walser, une rétrospective Maria Beatty (soumission garantie), des vidéocréations de l'artiste Yann Minh ou encore Yarasa, un film de Ayas Salayev (Azerbaidjan) qui a obtenu le Grand prix du festival d'Angers.
Le FFF propose également une rétrospective "Sexe, argent et pouvoir" avec des classiques comme La Rue sans joie de Pabst, Les Nuits de Cabiria de Fellini, 2 ou 3 choses que je sais d'elle de Godard ou La Rue de la honte de Mizoguchi.
Différentes de quoi, au fait, les sexualités du FFF ? Différentes peut-être d'un "cinéma" érotique et pornographique confiné depuis longtemps dans un coin du néant. Différentes surtout de tous les films qui n'osent pas montrer leur objet, ce que les organisateurs du FFF appellent les "visions mensongères d'Hollywood, ses princes charmants sauveurs de petites filles perdues". Le FFF, c'est le retour du refoulé cinématographique.

Agnès Jaoui's Le goût des autres opened this year's edition. Twenty young actors are in the running for the Prix Michel Simon, while the Prix Musidora will honor a young actor and actress in a short film. A special evening honored Belgian actor Benoit Poelvoorde (The Carriers are Waiting) and Patrice Leconte is to address the public on 1 March in the framework of a retrospective of his works. Also on the program, the avant-premiere screening of Laurent Cantet's Un dérangement considérable.
