Frederic Delamont
is a sophisticated businessman looking for someone with whom he
could share everything with: his most urging desires as well as
his strongest phobias… A young waiter met at a restaurant becomes
his private food taster… Thus begins a strange and dangerous relationship
between the two men…
Bernard Rapp
and Gilles Taurand's adaptation of Philippe Balland's novel gave
birth to a riveting psychological thriller. The somwhat linear
structure of the novel was discarded in favour of a more fragmentary
approach which splits the story between flashbacks and judiciary
testimonies, making Frederic Delamont's personality even more
difficult to grasp. Bernard Giraudeau (remember David Hamilton's
Bilitis ?) and Jean Pierre Lorit's intense and complementary performances
ideally sustain the psychological complexity of this unusual story
and make this film all the more enjoyable and chilling.
