The queen of the Mediterranean islands has recently managed a coup of cultural promotion and tourism by hosting the fourth annual music festival of the word islands music & film insular festival
In the middle of the souk and the house of culture Houmet Souk, Djerba la Douce has hosted the 4th Festival of Music the word islands music & film insular festival
Unanimously the UNESCO Convention on the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (traditional music and dance, stories, knowledge, ...). The scope, values and issues it addresses are immense and this convention has been adopted by Tunisia and over a hundred countries worldwide. The Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) is defined as "the crucible of cultural diversity and preservation, the guarantee for continuing creativity of man."
This meeting of artists from the islands of the world are intended to reflect on the role that the Intangible Cultural Heritage can play in developing the territory by the questions it raises about the concepts of invention, identity, community, citizenship, sustainable development, cultural tourism, governance...
These meetings are for elected officials, cultural leaders, residents, artists, media, development officers, tourism professionals, academics ...
In this perspective the music festival in the word islands music & film insular festival since its inception in 2002 when its first edition to play an important role to highlight the rich cultural and intangible heritage.
The islands of the world, across oceans and continents of the world, contains wealth of cultural heritage and large, both in their variety, their specificity, by their authenticity. The island, being cut off from the mainland are forced to live in harmony with their environment, feel the rhythm elements of their natural and dominating the rigors of their daily lives giving free rein to their imagination and their creative innovative spirit. In this perspective, music and song is their best support and the most expressive outlet for their dreams, "their emotions, and their ancestral memory.
The festival aims to create a network of contacts and exchanges for artists from the world's islands, groups of artists, artisans and masters of gastronomy of the islands, and the general public will discover the diversity and richness intangible cultural heritages of the world's islands.
This incentive was created by Djerba land exchange and encounters between artists from islands around the world who have chosen to combine their lives to the rhythms of the surf. Influenced by the traditional ambience and the rich cultural heritage and even ecological island, these artists have managed to feed their music to enrich their artistic drawing attention to all these components. From this observation, Lassaâd ElGhaïeb, founder and director of the festival, went to start this event trying to animate the island of Odysseus and discover the Tunisians as well as tourists from outside the music together.
The kick was given last Monday at the House of Culture Houmet Souk by the folk group of Cecilia Canto Antico and the folk group of Djerba followed by a screening of the film island 20 years Mullein never Molen De Véronique Pondaven. The day after December 29 the two groups that Cecile and Djerba meet around a music shop Works islands open to public Houmet Souk Souk.
In this vein shows and work shop was organized with artist Ross Daly Greek and Turkish artist Tanar Catalpinar followed by films on the island.
* Film Batuque De Julio Tavares Silvao This musical documentary chronicles the birth of Batuque through the life of the people of Cape Verde.
* Small World Grand River Rocks, which describes the lives of fishermen bichiques River Rocks. This film made in 2004 by Alexander Boutié has won numerous awards (including the Jury Prize at the film festival in Africa and La Reunion Islands)
The festival was closed by a culinary fiesta of the island of Djerba (Rouze Jerbi) in Souk Souk Houmet.
