The FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE FILMS DE FEMMES was born in 1979 at a time when women filmmakers began to make their voices heard. During the last thirty years, we have chosen to serve these independent directors as they take their first steps into their freshly made cinematographic commitment.

The Festival’s 2010 edition will present a program that includes the sections, which have sealed its identity for over 30 years: the international competition, self-portrait, film previews, thematic section.

This year, the thematic section Trans-Europe-Africa will highlight the power of the cinematographic productions that link Europe and Africa through the eyes of women filmmakers working on both continents.

The Festival remains attentive to the discovery of new talents with an international competition of 50 unreleased films (10 narrative features, 10 documentary features, 30 short films).

Autoportrait
Usually dedicated to an actress, this year for the first time the self-portrait will be shared by an actor and an actress for a fresh perspective on both artistes and their cinematographic works. Aissa Maiga and Sotigui Kouyate are invited to create a space for dialogue through films from their respective filmographies.

Anna Politkovskaïa Award
Sensitive to the struggles of this Great Russian journalist murdered in October 2006, we wish to pay a special tribute to her, as well as to all the worldwide documentary filmmakers that offer us through their films their talent and testimonies.
