Established in October 2009, the LUMIERE film Festival, dedicated to film history and for the general public, takes place in Lyon (France) and its suburbs, in the presence of many artists and personalities. Once a year, the hometown of the Lumière’s Cinematograph film invites the world to celebrate its vitality and memory. The event visits the international cinema legacy and reaffirm that the love for cinema is very present in our collective memories. At the heart of the festival, the Lumiere Award is given to a personality of the international cinema for lifetime achievement and the special relation he maintains with the history of the cinema. LUMIERE 2011 is to value, since the Premier_Film Street, the film history through a contemporary visit of the past works (restored prints, new prints, retrospectives, tributes).
