The film institute in Sofia may be the only place in the world in which every session is unique: Nelly Shevenusheva (84) interprets the dialogues of all the characters in a screening of a film by Federico Fellini or another great director, her evocative voice coming from the end of the room. Silent films come alive through the original music composed by Valentín Stavov (71). Here, everything is as it was thirty years ago, because the cinema’s director Alexander Nakov (81) has known how to support and preserve this way of understanding film, this “art of the moment”. Our characters have spent almost thirty years transmitting this particular way of experiencing cinema and life to new generations. Technological advances will never be able to replace the feelings and emotions that overcome our senses during their screenings. For this reason, our camera has tried to capture this un- known memory, full of elements that are about to disappe- ar, and which would be lost forever if it were not for the testimony of our protagonists.
