Durres International Film SummerFest's blog

The Durres International Film Summerfest was established in 2008 with the support of the National Center of Cinematography and Municipality of Durres. Its fourth edition will take place on 27 August – 2 September 2011, in the city of Durres and in other four cities of Albania: Tirana, Vlora, Pogradec and Saranda, with a special programme for those cities.The International Film Festival in Durres aims to establish strong and viable ties between Albania, its neighboring and the other European countries. In this respect, the present activity cherishes cinematography, in the full diversity of its forms, by supporting and promoting the visual and cultural product of Europe and the Balkans. The festival will also support the professional development and cooperation in all spheres of film production. The official selection will include: CONTEMPORARY VISIONS. This is a competition section dedicated to the European narrative feature-length movie. The section will include 14 films from EU countries in order to address the large variety of expressions from the participating film directors as well as the variety of expressions of the contemporary European culture. BALKAN WORLD. A section dedicated to the narrative feature-length movie from the Balkans, including Turkey. A maximum of 12 films that will present to the audience the cinematography of the eligible countries will be selected.
