ARTTUR's blog


The ART&TUR - International Tourism Film Festival is an unique event organized and promoted by APTUR (Portuguese Association of Turismologia) with the high patronage of the Municipality of Barcelos.

Is held annually, and the 1st edition was held between 24 and 27 September 2008, with remarkable success. In 2009, the 2nd edition of ART & TUR, took place also in Barcelos, on the same dates: 24 and 27 September, World Tourism Day.

In 2011 will go to its fourth edition, from September 27 to October 01. In its third edition in 2010 counted with the entry of 285 films from over 30 countries establishing itself as one of the largest film festivals in the world of tourism.

The Festival ART & TUR is a member of CIFFT - International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals, thus part of a worldwide network of 12 international festivals, which organizes each year in Vienna, the Festival of Festival The ART & TUR aims to promote audiovisual productions, from any country in the world, emphasizing the role and function of tourism in modern society, in its many dimensions: cultural, social, economic, recreational, religious, sports and health, highlighting the places, the landscapes, the communication, hospitality and infrastructure, along with aspects of historical-cultural, gastronomic and oenological and popular arts and crafts.

In addition, the Festival aims other more specific objectives:

* Promote Portugal as a tourist destination, and in particular the north of Portugal and the host county of the festival (Barcelos);

* Promote the implementation of best practices in tourism, in terms of social responsibility and preservation of the environment;

* Encouraging young people to engage in the conduct and production of film travel

AWARDS 

The Grand Prix of ART&TUR Festival is the Grand Golden Rooster, which will award to the best film of the content.

The best films in each category will integrate the short list (nominations) of ART&TUR to be exhibited during the 5 days of the festival. In each of the thematic categories are attributed the following awards:

»  Golden Rooster (Best Film);

»  Silver Rooster (2nd Best Film);

» Bronze Rooster (3rd Best Film).

In the following categories will be awarded special prizes:

» Categorie of Biodiversity - AWARD CHARLES DARWIN

» Categorie Human Life- AWARD ARISTIDES DE SOUSA MENDES

» Categorie of Young Talent - AWARD JULES VERNES

The jury also distinguished with the Golden Rooster movies that stand out the most in the following categories technical and artistic:

  Best Visual Effects and Post Production.

Will also be awarded with the Golden Rooster the best films from each kind:

TO APPLY:

The applications must respect the following rules:

  • Fill in and sign the entry form of the festival in www.tourfilm-festival.com;
  • Films with the entry form must be sent to the following address: The Organizing Secretary of Art & Tur – Rua Professor Bento Jesus Caraca nº 248 Sl 23 – 4200-130 PORTO – Portugal;
  • Entry Fee payment (90€);
  • Each participant can present to the competition one film for entry fee, in each category;
  • The deadline of registration is 15 July, 2011.

Maria João de Freitas Arriscado Nunes

BA in Law, MBA in Management for graduates in law, post graduate in law of Local Government and Urban Development and Law of Urban Planning and Environment. Technician in the Tourism office of the Municipality of Porto - Coordinator of Porto Film Commission, an service that is responsible for audiovisual productions in the city.


Nuno Oliveira

Biologist of Ecology and Conservation of Nature (FCUL). Tt is researcher at the CIGEST. It is also a doctoral student at UNL in the field of Geography and Environment and researcher in the e-GEO. Coordinates the network of experts and interested in ecology 'Ecology Made Real ". He also works with the WWF on the theme of Biodiversity and Forests. It has been an active participant in several events, national and international, related to Biodiversity, Ecosystems and Sustainable Development. It is part of the jury for the ART&TUR since the 2010 edition.

Concha Pelayo 

She is journalist and writer from Zamora (Spain), critic of art and author of several books, such as Hojas secas en mi caminar; El ojo del cíclope; Zamora tiempo de espera; Poemario plular; La mirada del pueblo; Huellas de emoción. As cultural manager, she was exhibition commissioner and conferences organizer. Member of Spanish Federation of Journalists and Travel Writers (FEPET), she publishes her travel reports in local press. She participated in tourism conferences in Beirut, Zagreb, Canary Islands and Madrid. Was awarded with several prizes, such as in 1985 won the PREMIO NACIONAL DE CUENTO for his work El compromiso. In 2010, he was again awarded with three major European awards for his contribution, dissemination and development of international tourism in Lithuania, Italy and Croatia.

George Pessis

General Director of the Festival "Un écran pour la Planète", and founder of the Archives Nationales de Audiovisuelles des Entreprises et des Collectivités, Knight of the Order of Merit and Knight of the “Order des Arts et des Lettres” in France, producer of more than 300 audiovisual programs, during more than 30 years of experience.

 

António Matas

Degree in Art History. Doctorate in Epigraphy Numismatics by the Universidade de Complutense de Madrid . Currently works in the magazine Cine 16 Art as a writer and photographer, is also director of the travel magazines, and Maskviajes and Actualidad Viajes, general secretary of the Madrid Tourist Press Association.

Dimas Marcos González Bennett

In 2004 it becomes the Film Commissioner of Santiago de Compostela Film Commission to the present, worked in over 250 productions of every kind held in Santiago. Member of AFCI - Association of Film Commissioner International, based in the United States, a founding member of EUFCN - European Film Commissions Network, based in Brussels and former Vice-President of the Spain Film Commission.

Rubén Gundín García

Degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Universiade Pontificia de Salamanca. General Director of the Fundación Extremadura Cine - Film Commission and Vice-President of the Spain Film Commission.

Paulo Pereira

Degree in Financial Management (U. Algarve / ESGHT) Chief at the Center for Business Development of the Portimão Urbis, Chief Executive of the ALGARVE FILM COMMISSION.

Lorena N. Campo

Participated in the realization of multiple feature films, such as Hotel Tivoli (2006), Camarón (2005), Galatasaray-Depor (2005), No soy yo sos ye (2004), Señora Beba (2004), Mar Adentro (2004) El año de la Garrapata (2004), La mala educación (2004), El pencil del Carpintero (2003), Descongélate (2003), Lena (2001). Currently she is teacher of the Department of Business Organisation and Marketing at the University of Vigo (Spain), also participating as a lecturer in Masters in Spain, Portugal and Mexico. She earned several awards (2010 Aemark, Aecit 2008) for his research on cinema as a promotional strategy and definition of the tourism product, as well as their assessment on the impact of the perceived image of the destination.

Juan Francisco Rivero

For 22 years she worked as a journalist for Mallorca. He traveled through 40 countries. Is President of the Association of Tourism Journalists of Extremadura (APETEX) and vice president of the Spanish Federation of Tourism Journalists. Has taught Tourism Communication "in several universities in Spain and foreigners. Participated in the last International Festival of Cinema in Cairo.~

Fernando Faria Paulino

University professor and researcher in the fields of anthropology, visual anthropology and documentary. Has devoted the last years to  the research in tourism anthropology, the relationship between images and tourism and intangible heritage. He is the author of several articles in these areas, documentary filmmaker and author of hypermedia products of anthropological character.
