Synopsis
In this chilling psychological thriller, eight-year-old Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) is haunted by a dark secret: He is visited by ghosts. A helpless and reluctant channel, Cole is terrified by threatening visitations from those with unresolved problems who appear from the shadows. Confused by his paranormal powers, Cole is too young to understand his purpose and too terrified to tell anyone about his torment, except child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis). As Dr. Crowe tries to uncover the ominous truth about Cole's supernatural abilities, the consequence for client and therapist is a jolt that awakens them both to something harrowing -- and unexplainable.

M. Night Shyamalan, director He began shooting films at the age of 10 in his native city of Philadelphia. At the age of 17 with 45 short films behind him, he decided to study cinema at the Tisch School of Arts. In 1992 he made the film Praying with Anger, which was a triumph at Toronto and won best film from the American Film Institute. In 1995, he adapted E.B. Whites "Stuart Little" for Columbia Pictures and made his second feature, Wide Awake, in 1997. Despite his young age, 28, his maturity and prowess inspired the confidence of Hollywood Pictures and the producers, and the project was negotiated in a day's time. Shyamalan's sensibility into the behavior of the human psyche is rooted in his Indian origins, born in Madras. "Sixth Sense is in the same vein as Rosemary's Baby and Repulsion [by Roman Polanski], a film genre that anchors fear in reality. The situations and emotions are played by credible characters, both child and adult, that we all know. I had already worked with children in Wide Awake, but the character Cole was particularly complex. It was absolutely necessary to find the right actor…and this search was exhausting. And then Haley arrived. Each word, each subtlety and inflexion was perfect." " In all movies, there is an underlying thread of magic. That is to say, an element that is not written in, that we cannot express in words, something like its soul…"
