Megalopolis: 9 million people. Elderly over 80 years of age = 22 thousand. 420 people die and 180 are born daily. 165 markets, thousands of stores, 6230 shops, 5203 cafeterias, 97 museums and exhibitions...Crowds of people rushing everywhere-faceless atoms of a vast mechanism. Endless circular motion. They are being picked up by escalators in the metro, taken away by trains...
Everyday, at the same time, an elderly lady with a hump and a cart boards the same train. She leaves the train at a far station and starts her journey through the woods. Something unusually mysterious is depicted in her image. This is a true story of a woman-Anna Diomina-old as the century. It is the true story of 20th century in Russia. As we follow Anna Diomina through the icy streets, her story and that of Russia unfold. They both have an history. It is an history of loyalty and betrayal for both.
