Orange BAFTA Film Awards

I was quite out of breath by the time I had climbed up to the upper,
upper, circle, or "the stratosphere," the term I think
I heard the ushers use. This did provide a useful piece of research,
however as I have always been fascinated by lighting rigs ... Former
BAFTA nominee Tim Clague reports on the BAFTAS and the

Competition
rules required each entry to be less than seven minutes long and
to contain the Tropfest signature item (to prove it was made for
the festival). This year's signature item -- "horn" -- allowed plenty
of scope for creativity.

26th Cesar Awards
Saturday February 24
Despite
hefty competition from heavyweights like Patrice Leconte and Olivier
Assayas, two rising directors took the top honors at this year's
26th Annual Cesar Awards, the French Oscar equivalent.
Agnes
Jaoui won Best Film for her feature debut The
Taste of Others (Le Gout des Autres).

Berlin
Ends on an "Intimate" Note

The
winners of the 51st Berlinale were announced early Sunday afternoon
in Berlin. The buzz film of the festival, Italian
for Beginners picked up a Silver Bear Jury Prize for its
director Lone Scherfig. The big winner, however, was Patrice Chereau's
Intimacy.
In addition to winning the Golden Bear, its star Kerry Fox picked
up a Silver Bear for Best Actress.
