Apollo's
"This Shorts Showcase"
March weekends (Santa Monica)
For some Oscar-viewers the "short films" category during
the Academy Awards ceremony is the time to refill drinks or make
popcorn. The films are so rarely shown in theaters that only regular
festival-goers have any familiarity with the nominees. Apollo Cinema
is set to change that. For the first time ever, Oscar nominated
shorts are being screened in a showcase that runs on four consecutive
weekends beginning Saturday, March 3. The Academy Award nominated
short films are Seraglio (USA, 2000); By Courier (USA,
2000) and One Day Crossing (Hungary, 1999).
