The Grand Prix went to David Koepp's Stir of Echoes about hallucinations that gradually become real, while the winner of the Special Jury Prize, International Critics Prize and the Discovery Prize went to thriller/horror film Los sin nombre by Jaume Balaguero (Spain). The Grand Prix for a short was awarded to L'homme est-il bon? by Romain Berthomieu and the Special Jury Prize for a short to Brushing Sue Helen by Hervé Prat. Gerardmer also awarded their Fantasy Literature Prize to Xavier Maumejan for "Les Mémoires de l'homme-éléphant" at the hands of Bernard Werber, author of the "Fourmis" trilogy. The book relates the memories of Elephant Man John Merrick portrayed in the film by David Lynch. When jury president William Friedkin (The Exorcist, French Connection) got snowed in in New York, Michael York took over the position.
Satan was the guest of honor for the 7th edition, with a panel discussion exploring the influence of the devil in our society and an exhibit by five different artist. The competition was comprised of 10 features and was complimented by special screenings and avant-premieres. Forty films of all nationalities made the program including movies like Sleepy Hollow by Tim Burton, Supernova by Walter Hill, Animal Farm by John Stephenson... Video features and clips, advertisements as well as a short film selection, were all included on the agenda.

Le Grand Prix est allé à "Stir of Echoes" de David Koepp, histoire d'hallucination devenant progressivement réelles, alors que le gagnant du Prix Special du Jury, du Prix International de la Critique et du Prix de la Découverte est le film policier/horreur "Los sin nombre" de Jaume Balaguero (Espagne). Le Grand Prix du Court Métrage est allé à" L'homme est il bon?" de Romain Berthomieu et le Prix Spécial du Jury à un court métrage appelé "Brushing Sue Helen" par Hervé Prat. Gérardmer a également attribué son Prix de Littérature Fantastique à Xavier Maumejan pour "Les Mémoires de l'homme éléphant", prix remis par Bernard Weber auteur de la trilogie des "Fourmis". Le livre relate les mémoires de John Merrick atteint d'éléphantiasis et montré dans le film de David Lynch. Michael York a remplacé au pied levé William Friedkin ( The Exorcist, French Connection), le président du Jury bloqué par la neige à New York.
Satan était l'invité d'honneur de cette 7ème édition, avec des tas de discussions qui ont exploré l'influence du diable dans notre société et une exposition de cinq artistes. Une rétrospective des principaaux classiques du genre étaient projetée incluant Rosemary's Baby, Angel Heart et Inferno. La compétition comprenait 10 films et était complété par des projections spéciales et des avants premières. Quarante films de toutes nationnalités composait le programme incluant, le Cavalier sans tête de Tim Burton, Supernova de Walter Hill, Animal Farm de John Stephenson... Films vidéos et clips, ainsi qu'une sélection de courts métrage.
