The eleventh annual award ceremony of the European Film Awards will take place in London on Friday, December 4, 1998 at the Old Vic Theatre and will honor the excellence and diversity of European Cinema. Organized by the European Film Academy which was founded in 1991 and presided by Wim Wenders, the European Oscars known as the "Felix" awards will go to feature fiction films which were completed after July 1, 1997.

Last year’s ceremony took place in Berlin and voted "The Full Monty" as the Best European Film. The awards also honored Juliette Binoche in "The English Patient" as the Best European Actress, Bob Hoskins in "Twenty Four Seven" as the Best European and Jeanne Moreau received the European Film Academy Lifetime Achievement Award.
