" By embracing many of the world’s cultures, Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) has anchored itself firmly in the world of international festivals. Home to over 200 nationalities, Dubai is a meeting point for people around the world.

DIFF has positioned itself as one of the world’s premier showcases for discovering state-of-the-art Arab filmmaking, while it continues to the show a wide selection of international films to its local audiences.

We hope that our festival can serve to facilitate a constructive global discourse on important world issues, using the medium of film.”

“DIFF is an event that incorporates the entire city, from local artists to local businesses. Dubai is not only the commercial and leisure capital of the region, but also a beacon for change and progress in the Middle East. Nothing demonstrates our hopes for dialogue and cross-cultural interaction like DIFF.”

Abdulhamid Juma

Deputy Director General, Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority,
Chairman, Dubai International Film Festival

This December, Dubai International Film Festival will be hosted in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by Dubai Media City, the media free zone created by the Government of Dubai in 2001.

Going into its fifth year, DIFF is held under the Honorary Chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. DIFF is a not-for-profit cultural event, presented and organized by the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority.

Reflecting Dubai’s cosmopolitan and multicultural character, the festival showcases a wide selection of features, shorts and documentaries from around the world.

DIFF aims at establishing itself as a major international festival, while continuing to act as a platform for showcasing excellence in Arab Cinema and simultaneously contributing to the development and growth of the regional industry and talent.

As one of the world’s fastest growing business and tourist destinations, Dubai provides an ideal meeting point for industry friends and colleagues from around the globe. DIFF creates an exciting atmosphere for exchanging ideas among a group of progressive film industry professionals. Moreover, the networking initiatives hosted by DIFF provide participants and guests a favourable setting for conducting business.

Since its first edition in 2004, DIFF has established itself as an important cultural event in Dubai and the UAE. There has been a remarkable growth in the number of films presented and an increased interest in audience numbers. The festival has also seen a similar growth in the attendance of key international and regional filmmakers, industry professionals and members of the local, regional and international press.
