The Lumière Award was created to celebrate a filmmaker, in Lyon, the very place where the cinematograph was invented by Louis and Auguste Lumière, and where they shot their first film, Workers Leaving the Factory, in 1895. Because we must express our appreciation to the directors and artists of the cinema who fill our lives, the Lumière Award is a distinction reflecting time, gratitude, and admiration. Pour cette nouvelle année, quelques nouveautés seront à découvrir et à vivre pour profiter plus encore de cinéma, de Lyon et d'une semaine de festival. The 7th edition of the Lumière festival will be held from Monday 12 to Sunday October 18 in Lyon. Last year, 135,000 festivalgoers attended 320 screenings in 65 venues in the Lyon Metropolis. This year, there will be new features to discover and experience, to take full advantage of the films, the city of Lyon and the festival week.
