KahBangFilmFestival

The KahBang Film Festival is one portion of the KahBang Music|Art|Film Festival, happening this August 5th - 13th 2011, in downtown Bangor, Maine. KahBang is not just another festival. It is a brand. A brand built around discovering "the next big thing" in the arts and entertainment worlds.

The KahBang Film Festival is 9 days of films that we think are cool. Some are cool for different reasons, others are cool for the same reasons, while still others are both at the same time. If it makes us laugh, if it makes us think, if someone blackmailed us to screen it, we share it with you. If you don't like it, we'll give you a refund (please note: The KahBang Festival does not offer refunds).

At the end of the day, we love films, we love filmmakers with vision, and we love Milk Duds. Our festival pays tribute to the iconic artists, the emerging auteur and even the epic fail. We hope you will join us this August and discover "cool" the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

KahBang Film - On a quest to discover New Filmmakers and Emerging Talent

We are pleased to announce that the 3rd Annual
KahBang Film Festival will be held August 5th to August 13th, 2011, as
part of the KahBang: Music | Art | Film Festival, in Bangor Maine, and
is now open for submission.

Last years festival highlighted some of the most entertaining musicians
and filmmakers of 2010. Our music lineup boasted the insanely talented
"Bad Rabbits", "Free Energy", "OKGo" and the latest hip hop sensation
"B.o.B".

The KahBang Film Festival screened in competition Sundance Film
Favorites, "New Low" and "One Too Many Mornings" as well as the AFI
Silverdocs Grand Jury Award Winning Documentary "Wo Ai Ni Mommy". 2010
also saw the birth of our "Music Doxx" category, screening the popular
Maynard James Keenan wine documentary, "Blood Into Wine".

Though we loved the classic feel of the KahBang Film Festival, we have
decided to change it all up and give you a fresh, original product for
2011 and beyond.

In competition opportunities include the return of our flagship
category, “Gen-Next”, a selection of Narrative and Documentary Feature
Length Films, directed by new emerging filmmakers, who are turning heads
in the independent film community. Most of them don’t have agents, but
they can make a Chai Latte with soy milk in under 3 minutes. Next comes
one of our new and exciting categories, “LMFAO”. These Feature Length
Narrative and Documentary Films will bring forth such statements as
“OMG. You have to see this film LOL hahahaha”. In all seriousness, LMFAO
features the best new Comedy Films from a group of filmmakers you’ve
never heard of. Todd Phillips, Judd Apatow, Adam McKay and many other
iconic, comedic filmmakers have never submitted films to this category.

Rounding out our in competition categories, we have the return of two
categories, “Short Cuts” (enough said), “Music Doxx”, the newest Music
related documentaries on the scene in 2011. Finally, we have a category
devoted solely to a new kind of experimental filmmaking, using only the
iPhone4, which we call “iFilmz”.

Screening categories out of competition include “So Bad Its Good”, “6
Degrees of Kevin Bacon” and “Murray vs. Murray”. Some films will be cool
for different reasons, others will be cool for the same reasons, while
still others are both at the same time. If we like it, we show it.

At the end of the day, we love films, and we love filmmakers, and we
love fun. We want to recognize and award the most unique and creative
filmmakers working in independent cinema. Join us in Bangor, Maine this
August 5th-13th for the new KahBang Film Festival… because we said so!
