East Silver is a specialised market in the Central and Eastern European documentary film field. The East Silver market consists of a video-library, catalogue and a specialized on-line database of Central and Eastern European documentary films. The East Silver project is realized because of the co-operation of the International Documentary FilmFestival in Jihlava and Institute of Documentary Film, Prague. East Silver strives to continuously serve as a unique promotional and support tool for Eastern and Central documentary productions by assembling in one place completed documentaries from East European countries, including countries with low AV production capacity, and making them accessible by bringing them to international attention by various means. We shall continue to promote these somewhat overlooked productions in the international marketplace, and make them available to international professionals such as TV buyers, festival programmers, sales agents and distributors, by focusing on the opportunity of being included in program sections of international festivals, presented at international film markets and broadcast on European and international TV stations, consequently making them available to much wider audiences.

East Silver Market
East Silver is the first documentary market which
supports producers and distributors from Central and Eastern Europe. Each year,
about 300 films from more than 29 countries are included in the market. East
Silver Market is organized by the Institute of Documentary Film; the main
partner of the project is Jihlava IDFF.

documentary films from our region. Obtaining substantial knowledge about

East Silver Caravan promotes East European documentary
films at important international film festivals and markets. Our nomad showcase
of Eastern European documentary selection reaches over 90 prestigious
international film festivals and markets.

Silver Eye Award 2012

Picking the nominees from 2012 East Silver Market
submissions, East Silver international jury (comprising of
international buyers, sales agents and festival selectors) awards the best documentaries with Silver Eye Award.
The total of 33 films competes in 3 main categories (feature, mid-length and
short documentary). All winners are granted with prize money of EUR 1 500
and year round festival support within the East Silver Caravan.
