Beloved

user
Director: Daniel Zinkant.
Dan is young and dreams of love. In this beautifully made short on gay love we are let into his world, experiencing the beauty he sees and so desires. Flicking between two worlds of fantasy and real-life, we feel his pain of unrequited love. As the narrative comes to an end we watch the three friends disperse, and Dave is left alone- his love unknown, unsaid and only known by him and us. Beloved was made through our First Light Studio Award. A group of 15-19 year-olds worked together to produce the film which was written by a young person.

TuTuMUCH

Director: Elise Swerhone.
TuTuMUCH follows 9 young dancers behind-the-scenes where they plié and pirouette for coveted spots in an intensive 4 week professional ballet summer program. Leaving behind their families and friends, often for the first time, each girl confronts in her own way the painstaking and sometimes rewarding realities of actually living her dream. TuTuMUCH is a glimpse of how it feels to embark on a career of dance at the age of twelve.

Hammerhead

Director: Sam Donovan.
Oddball Boris tries to reunite his parents on a shark-spotting trip off the North Yorkshire coast. Only, his biggest enemy is along for the ride… his mother’s girlfriend, Lilah. Only once Boris accepts Lilah can he unite his family in his own unique way, through his obsessive love of sharks.
