Tibet Film Festival's blog

Now going its third year, Tibet Film Festival seeks to offer a range of inspiring and challenging films to explore Tibet and its people and the many intricacies and complexities inherent within the Tibet issue, all with a view to stimulating broader discussions on human rights, conflict, freedom and cultural identity. The festival largely focuses on new films made by independent filmmakers, both Tibetan and from around the world. The festival equally seeks to support Tibetan filmmakers, especially young and emerging talent, in using and exploring the moving image as a means of creative expression. We launched Tibet Film Festival in the UK in 2008 under the original name ‘Through an Exile Lens – Thoughts and Imaginings of Tibet’. The festival opened in London then went on tour to Edinburgh, Newcastle and Manchester. In 2009, we were partnered by Tibet House Trust, enabling the festival to grow in size, reaching 12 cities across the UK. We also took the festival to Copenhagen in collaboration with Tibet Support Committee (Denmark), coinciding with the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Denmark in May 2009. Tibet Film Festival is a purely non-profit activity with all proceeds going towards social, humanitarian and education projects supporting the Tibetan exile community. You can support us by becoming a member or making a donation.
