The Boryeong Mud Festival is held in Daecheon beach in Boryeong, Korea annually every summer. The 14th Boryeong Mud Festival will be celebrated this year on July 16-24. First staged in 1997, the festival's main purpose is to promote the wide range of cosmetics produced using Boryeong's mud flats. The cosmetics are full of minerals, proving it be benificial to the skin. The festival aims to educate everyone of the mud and its cosmetics in a fun and casual way. Wildly, popular with Koreans and foreigners alike, the festival reportedly has attracted 2.2 million visitors to Boryeong.  The festival features a mud pool, mud slides, mud prison and even mud skiing competitions. Visitors can also enjoy body painting with colored mud and sellers who sell the cosmetics are all over the place. The festival is then ended with a big fireworks display.
