Interrobang's blogThe Interrobang Film Festival presented by Nationwide (pronounced in-’ter-ə-,baŋ, like interrogate) is now accepting professional and student film submissions for the second-annual film production festival and public screening at the Des Moines Arts Festival on June 26-28, 2009, in downtown Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park. All submissions are due to the Festival office postmarked by May 8, 2009. Interrobang's vision is to celebrate creativity, while promoting the widest array of film types possible. The Film Festival combines a traditional film production festival with a public screening. Categories for entry in the Film Festival include Features, Mids, Shorts, Short Shorts, Documentary and Free Form. Entrants have the option of applying in either the Professional or Student Categories. Feature films must be from 60-140 minutes in length, mids are films between 15-60 minutes long, shorts must not exceed 15 minutes in length, and short shorts can not exceed one minute in length. Visit www.interrobangfilm.org to download a complete list of rules and regulations, and entry forms. Entry fees are $25/film for professional filmmakers, and $10/film for students. All film submissions will be reviewed by a panel of local jurors, and awards will be presented based on a Best of category system. A $700 cash prize will be awarded to the Festival’s Best of Show in the professional filmmaker category. The Best of Show in the student filmmaker category will receive a $200 cash prize and a $200 Best Iowa Filmmaker Award will be awarded to an individual, production company or department that is a resident of the state of Iowa or whose film was primarily shot in Iowa (at least fifty percent). The award-winning Des Moines Arts Festival is Iowa's only free, three-day celebration of the arts, attracting over 200,000 guests annually to downtown Des Moines each June. In just the last two years, the Festival was awarded 35 Pinnacle Awards from the International Festival and Events Association and named as one of the Top-10 Fine Art Fairs in the country by AmericanStyle Magazine. The Festival features 175 professional visual artists in its juried art fair, 24 Emerging Iowa Artists, dozens of interactive arts activities, live music and entertainment, performing arts, street theatre, culinary arts and more!
