User Bio

The International Festival “A Film for Peace” is very young - just six years old. Despite its young age, thanks to the passion and commitment of the municipality of Medea and the Windcloak Film Production, with the support of the province of Gorizia and of the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio of Gorizia, this event crossed the national frontiers and become in a short time one of the biggest festivals on human rights in the world, with 34 participating countries from all five continents. Based on the conception and design of the artistic director and anthropologist Enrico Cammarata, the festival has received the support and coordination of Alberto Bergamin, Mayor of Medea.

The 2012 edition of the festival will present other original works of interest, which will promote the collaboration between Italian and foreign universities in order to introduce to the new generations important issues leading to the building of peace between nations.

All films, dealing with war or social theme, can participate in the competition to promote peace and dialogue among all people and social groups.

The participation in the festival is free and the registration will be done by filling out an application by April 15, 2012. Exception: the films that deal with water rights have an earlier deadline - February 28, 2012.

The festival grants the following awards for the 2012 edition:

• Special Award “Water Rights” for the Best Film with a theme based on water rights, granted by a special jury;

• Special Award for the Best Feature Film: Recommended for Schools and Special Award for the Best Short Film: Recommended for Schools, awarded by the high school network’s jury and the university students’ jury;

• Special Award for the Best Film on Disarmament granted by a special jury;

• Special Award “War and Cultural Heritage” for the Best Film, granted by a special jury; • Awards to the 4 film finalists granted by a technical jury.
