MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The West Virginia Filmmaker Festival is a dedicated to the promotion of WV Filmmakers and Video Artists by the exhibition of films which exemplify the West Virginia spirit of independence. We strive to give forum to the Mountain State's best and most inventive new video artists while promoting the state to filmmakers outside of West Virginia.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The West Virginia FIlmmakers Festival is the original Film Festival dedicated to films by and for West Virginia. Held every fall in beautiful Sutton, West Virginia, the festival has showcased the best and brightest filmmakers from the Mountain State, and beyond. The First Festival was held in the spring of 2001 showcasing some of West Virginia's best filmmakers at the Landmark Studio for the Arts in Historic Sutton, West Virgina. In 2010 The West Virginia Filmmaker's Guild took over production of the festival.
The WVFF focuses on creating a communal atmosphere between the makers, students, and audiences of their films. We make our filmmakers our top priority by encouraging feedback, networking and workshops among the filmmakers. Filmmakers should leave our weekend with a myriad of new friends and collaborators
Cash prizes are given in the categories of: Best Student Film, Best Narrative Short, Best Experimental/Music Video/Animation, Best Documentary Short, Best Documentary Feature, Best Narrative Feature, and Best Film. Additionally, the festival annually awards the WV Filmmaker of the Year award to the individual whose work has had the biggest impact on WV filmmaking during that calendar year.

What if our words could echo through time? What if the things we do to-day could inspire complete strangers without us ever knowing it? This film follows the ripple effect of our decisions and is meant to teach us to be grateful for all the things we have in our lives. Follow the journey of a homeless man as he struggles to get his life together, while a college student’s life gradually goes downhill. The 2 men are connected in a way they never knew. They are connected not only through time, but also through words.
