Carmarthen Bay Film Festival is set in the heartland of Welsh film and television. The festival is held in the home town of Wales' very first Hollywood silent film star Gareth Hughes who was Kelvin Guy's, the festivals CEO and founder cousin. The Carmarthen Bay Film Festival is all about encouraging and supporting independent film and cinema here in Wales the UK and Internationally. Our 3rd festival was a huge successes with over 140 films entered. The festival was once again held over 4 days at the 4 star Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli, Wales. The festival was once again a big hit with the attending film makers who had traveled from LA Miami, Europe and from all over the UK. The festivals audience was also very impressed with the diversity and quality of this year’s films with attendance rising from last years by over 100%. This festival is all about being open and fair with an independent judging panel made up of professional well respected film and television writers and critics. The festival is not about making vast amounts of money off the backs of film makers, but giving them the opportunity to have their films screened and judge fairly. We operate as a not for profit community group. Which basically means all money from submissions and sponsorship goes towards making the festival bigger and better year on year. For this festival to grow we do need the help of you the film maker to make and enter your film into our 2015 festival. It's all about fairness, our is motto ‘This festival is honest’ the festival is and will always be, a champion of independent film! Date: Oct 22, 2014 - Oct 26, 2014
About the event:
In 1999, the Puchon International Student Animation Festival (PISAF) embarked on its journey as the sole animation festival in Asia dedicated solely to students and has since earned high marks for the quality of its selections. PISAF has also committed itself to becoming a venue in which to introduce animations created by animators from home and abroad and nurture new talents in the digital content industry. The festival’s central program is its International Student Competition, which is designed to discover young and promising new talent in animation and showcase their work. There are two categories: Short Animated Films (less than 30 minutes) and New Media Content, which can include many different formats such as Internet/web, Mobile-based, stopmotion graphics, interactive animations and etc. In 2011 over 1,200 films from all over the world were submitted to PISAF.
Along with the competition, PISAF offers many opportunities for young animated filmmakers to meet masters of the cartoon and animation world. In 2011, Disney animator John Musker, director of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules and The Princess and the Frog have been featured. PISAF has played a major role in creating a network linking animation festivals worldwide through its collaborations with film fests in Annecy, Ottawa, Hiroshima, Zagreb, and the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film. The festival also offers a cartoon and animation experience program to attract interested audience members. The program is also aimed at exposing the ways that cartoons and animation can help develop creativity across a variety of fields. PISAF hopes to see more people enjoying cartoon and animation in the future.
PISAF 2014, the festival’s 16th edition, will be held on October 22-26 with screenings, an animation fair, an educational convention and a variety of other special events.
