Les Fameux Gars

#
Director: Adolf El Assal.
Steven, a student in a specialised class in Luxembourg, figures out that his school has won a trip to Alcabideche in Portugal. He is more than happy because it's the first time he'll visit his homeland. Once on location, he decides to enjoy his vacation on his own with his two friends.

DETROIT, WILD CITY

Director: Florent Tillon.
The automobile industry jumpstarted Detroit’s rise and made it the most industrialized city in the United States. But because of changes in American society and population demographics, the city lay deserted for decades and urban prairies complete with falcon, deer and coyote turning out the urban landscape in a B movie setting. Now an unexpected turn of events has created an environment where young people are moving back into the ruins of the former Detroit... are they a new kind of pioneer? Could this now be a way for America to be “rediscovered”?

Contemplations of a Culture-Shocked Movie-Goer

user
By Moze Halpernin Those of you who live in Paris have likely noticed the frightening abundance of misery-stricken, wet, baffled, crushed, torn, tempest-tossed Korean widows plastering the Paris metro stations.  Lurking behind every endearingly Parisian puff of urine with that worn mien, waiting to shatter commuters’ iPoded complacency, silently bemoaning the woes, the burdens, the weight of motherhood.  Actually, said Korean widows are just one Korean widow, played by Hye-Ja Kim, sta...

Four Days of Therapy for the Population

Montreal's Concordia University is filled with creative, ambitious and radical young artists and academics. The Students of Philosophy Association, SoPhiA, is reaching out to this rich and varied community with their first Film Festival. Over the course of four days, the festival organizers aim to screen at least twelve outstanding films from around the world:

"We are looking for short films of all kinds (shorts, fiction, documentary, and everything in between) to be shown at the festival, titled "Four Days of Therapy for the Population". It is a festival which should be the basis for questioning the human condition. We want to create a place where questions are posed, and discussion blooms. The major themes are centered around relational human experience: in relation to oneself, (identity), to others, and finally in relation to the objective world."

Any and all submissions will be considered (French or English)

Audience votes for their favourite of the fest!
