The 23rd Avignon Film Festival came to a close last Sunday 25th June 2006. At the final awards ceremony, which took place at the Museum of the Petit Palais with special guests Marie-Josée Roig, mayor of Avignon, filmmakers Jean-François Stevenin and Laszló Szabó, and almost all of the directors of the movies in competition, the 2006 Jury announced this year¹s winners.

COLD KENYA by Laurence Walsh (USA/Poland)

Prix Panavision for the Best European Short Film:
THE LAST DAYS by Oliver Frohnauer (Germany)

Prix UCMF for the Best Movie Score:
FOUR CORNERS OF SUBURBIA by Elizabeth Puccini (USA)

The Avignon Film Festival is already organizing its 24th manifestation in 2007 and is also preparing for the celebration of its 25th anniversary ³transatlantic crossroads of independent cinema² in 2008.
