17th Raindance Film Festival's blog
17TH RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 30 SEPTEMBER – 11 OCTOBER 2009 OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS FROM JANUARY 1 TILL JUNE 19 The 17th Raindance Film Festival is now open for submissions. Raindance is the UK’s leading independent film festival and every year more and more films are picked up after Raindance screenings. Last year was our biggest and most successful to date and we aim to top that in 2009. But we can’t do it without your films. Raindance showcases features and shorts made by independent filmmakers from all around the world to an audience of film fans, journalists, acquisition executives, actors, producers and directors. The festival has hosted such guests and filmmakers as Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Memento), Shane Meadows (Dead Man’s Shoes, This Is England), Ken Loach (Kes, The Wind That Shook The Barley), Marky Ramone (The Ramones), Iggy Pop, Anton Corbijn (Control), Mick Jones (The Clash), Andrea Arnold (Red Road), Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys), Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs), Faye Dunaway and Lou Reed. Each year we receive thousands of film submissions of just about every genre you can imagine from very talented filmmakers so it’s safe to assume that the competition is fierce. If you think your film has what it takes to make Raindance ’09 then submit your film before 19 June 2009 (late deadline). Submit today for your chance to be a part of the 17th Raindance Film Festival and have your film screened to an audience of Britain’s most fanatical film fans. For more details, visit: www.raindance.co.uk/site/festivalsubmissions-2009 The 4 Reasons To Attend Film Festivals
The primary reason for submitting your film to a film festival is to have it screened in front of acquisition executives who will ‘discover’ your film and make you an offer on the spot. 2 Win awards If you read bios of filmmakers, you will often see the phrase ‘an award- winning filmmaker’, but the names of the awards are never mentioned. That is because there are only three awards worth naming on a CV; - The Oscars 3 Sit on a panel If award winning is not your thing, then get yourself invited to sit on a panel. Not only will it help you hone your public speaking skills, but you can then claim that you were directly involved with the festival. 4 Getting reviewed Film journalists really do not enjoy film festivals. They will have to watch all the films entered into the festival and write reviews. To know more about . . . 07.04.2009 | 17th Raindance Film Festival's blog Cat. : Festival Forum |
