NYTVF's blog

The New York Television Festival is the first creative festival of its kind, offering producers, writers, and directors the unprecedented opportunity to showcase their independently produced television pilots directly for network executives and general audiences.

Since its first year in 2005, the Festival has received hundreds of original television pilots and scripts from independent producers and has helped them get deals with major networks, official representation, and industry recognition.

The NYTVF hosts a variety of script and television pilot contests throughout the year, and the annual Festival in September offers a number of free screenings, production workshops, parties, panels, happy hours, and red-carpet premieres of new fall shows.

Nonscripted producers: win a $10k development deal with Sony Pictures Television and the NYTVF.

CALLING ALL NONSCRIPTED PRODUCERS!

The NYTVF has launched a groundbreaking nonscripted initiative with Sony Pictures Television. Submit your original nonscripted format in the form of a teaser tape by December 13th for a chance to win $10,000.

About the initiative:

Launched during the 2010 New York Television Festival, the Sony Pictures Television Format Competition invites nonscripted producers to submit a 4-8 minute teaser tape and a written treatment for a new nonscripted show.

One winner will receive a $10,000 deal from the studio and will be flown to Cannes to pitch the format to global content buyers at MIPCOM 2011, with the assistance of Sony Pictures Television. The winning producer will retain a portion of the international rights on all sales.

What are we looking for?

The NYTVF and Sony Pictures Television are looking for exciting new shows in any nonscripted genre:

For example:

·     Docu-Soap

·     Game Show

·     Talk Show

·     Competition Show

Remember: The contest is seeking shows that are not only domestic formats, but could work around the world. Your show should have the potential to work in multiple regions worldwide and MUST be wholly original.
