NYTVF's blogThe New York Television Festival is the first creative festival of its kind, offering producers, writers, and directors the unprecedented opportunity to showcase their independently produced television pilots directly for network executives and general audiences. Since its first year in 2005, the Festival has received hundreds of original television pilots and scripts from independent producers and has helped them get deals with major networks, official representation, and industry recognition. The NYTVF hosts a variety of script and television pilot contests throughout the year, and the annual Festival in September offers a number of free screenings, production workshops, parties, panels, happy hours, and red-carpet premieres of new fall shows. A&E and NYTVF seek original unscripted treatments; one winner will create a pilot with the networkThe A&E Unscripted Development Pipeline A&E Network and the New York Television Festival are introducing an innovative program seeking original unscripted television treatments from independent artists and production companies. Entrants should focus on treatments that center on individuals or small groups that represent unique points of view. To be considered, producers must submit a short treatment (1-2 pages) along with a brief video introducing the subject(s). The top treatments will be reviewed by the network and the winning producer’s concept will be produced as a pilot in partnership with A&E Network and a production partner.
25 semi-finalists will be presented to A&E development executives. Five finalists, selected by A&E, will receive notes on their projects and $2,500 to shoot additional tape. One winner, selected by A&E, will be awarded $10,000 and he/she will participate in the production of the network pilot presentation. All semi-finalists will be invited to participate in the 2011 New York Television Festival as Official Artists, Sept 19th- 24th.
