AGAINST THE WIND

Director: SANDRIS JURA.
An affirmative film about the price of risk and patriotism, which is possible only to adventurists. Ivars Beitans and his team do the impossible – in spite of obstacles they build the Latvian pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai, turn on the vertical wind tunnels and fly off in the sight of the whole world. But what is the price of the flight? What one should do not to let his whole life “pass by”?

Agent Orange: 30 Years Later

Director: John Trinh.
“AGENT ORANGE: 30 YEARS LATER” is a drama-documentary about the victims of Agent Orange 30 years after the Viet Nam War. The film tells the story of several victims of Agent Orange - from the North to the South of Viet Nam - who were exposed to the substance when it was sprayed during the war. It interweaves compelling interviews with images culled from the archives to tell the tales of horror of people, from babies to grandparents, male and female, North and South Viet Nam living with life-altering choices to make: pro-life or abortion, alien diseases, deformities, fear, loneliness, suicidal thoughts, pain, and poverty. It is more of a drama than a reportage, or an observation. The goal of this documentary is to make the viewers aware of the impact of dioxin on the environment and the people. The film also underscores the need for compassion and heightens a sense of responsibility for our actions towards each other as stewards of the planet without regard for political differences.

AGEROLAND

Director: Carlotta Cerquetti.
Agerola is a village in the south of Italy, hidden in the mountains that overlook the Amalfi coast. In the heart of the village you can find the tobacco shop owned by Sabato Cuomo, a special tobacconist - philosopher with the typical ironic spirit of Neapolitans. In his shop, enter the life of men: Lello the singer, Marilena the post-lady, Nick the immigrant, etc. A portrait of a village and its people, lives that are simple but never ordinary.

Akio the cat

Director: Joëlle Janssen.
Encountering the person Akio Suzuki or his work is a kind of initiatory, mischievous trip. He was born in Japan about 60 years ago and was invited by some of my crazy friends, members of the association "Le Sentier des lauzes" (The stone roof trail), to stay in a valley of the Ardèche Cevennes. There, as a true craftsman and in his own way, he created a set of places related to sounds and time, to paths and hills. Akio takes us along to explore his off-kilter dream that is far away from any déjà-vu, power, mainstream productions or expectations. It is a journey, an introduction to another way of listening to the world.
