JAMAICA REGGAE FILM FESTIVAL, 17th-21st May 2012

JAMAICA REGGAE FILM FESTIVAL, 17th-21st May 2012 The Jamaica Film Academy announces the Call for Entries in the 2012 Jamaica Reggae Film Festival, to be held 17th-21st May 2012 in Kingston, Jamaica.(Venue to be confirmed) In keeping with the format initiated at the inaugural event in February 2008, the Festival will showcase films in which aspects of Jamaica's Reggae music culture are displayed, documented and memorialized in feature, documentary and short films, animation and music videos. In the five years since its inception, the Reggae Film Festival has included films made by Jamaicans, as well as global reggae researchers and fans from the Caribbean, UK, USA, Canada, Spain, Germany, Serbia, Italy, Japan, Iran, France and Ethiopia. The focus of many documentaries on the history of Jamaican music and music makers, ensures an archive of historical material on the genre that preserves the oral memories of a culture that has spread to and been honored by the world. In 2012, in recognition of the 50th year of Jamaica's independence, the Jamaica Reggae Film Festival will be presented internationally in cities of the Jamaican Diaspora, with selected screenings of The Best of the Reggae Film Festival in Toronto, London, Birmingham and New York. In keeping with the objective of the Jamaica Film Academy to increase and improve the output of Jamaican film making, the annual Make A Film In 24 Hours competition has inspired and produced new Jamaican film making talent, while the Festival has discovered a surprising wealth of Jamaican talent in digital animation. The acknowledged expertise and innovation of Jamaican music video makers exposing the talents of Jamaica's powerful musical artists, provides another area highlighted by the Reggae Film Festival. Annual Awards are presented in several categories and and the international interest in the unique music and culture of Jamaica. has given prize-winning films further international awards and distribution. The Festival's identification of the genre of 'reggae films' creates a digital archive of films available for research into a variety of aspects of the Jamaican culture that emerged from the Rastafari movement and spread with the music of reggae legend Bob Marley.

Transforming Stories International Christian Film Festival

One week festival throughout South Africa and countries worldwide. The purpose of the festival is to showcase powerful, inspiring, faithaffirming, evangelistic, transforming stories in the form of film to the world and the Body of Christ in every nation. We want to emphasize how the power of storytelling can impact the lives of people and shape a specific culture. To accomplish this we are willing to identify and reward talent that is of the highest standards. The festival will be presented in two forms, in host countries around the world and in selected movie theatres throughout South Africa. The award ceremony will take place in South Africa during September 2011 where winning films will be announced. The power of media is evident in this day and age, and movies have been a huge part of shaping the culture as we know it. BehindTransforming Stories International Christian Film Festival 2011 (TSICFF 2011) is a greater vision to transform cultures through storytelling and inspire people to make use of films in sharing the Gospel to all mankind. No longer will we as followers of Christ allow our world to be poisoned with profanity by media elites. Instead, we are encouraging revolutionaries out there to produce stories which can transform our culture into one that will be in line with The Kingdom of God (Yahweh),one of Justice, Peace, Righteousness and Love. TSICFF is looking for films that effectively illustrate stories of transformation by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; or true life testimonies of both spiritual and physical transformation by God’s power and intervention; or Biblical truths leading viewers to a clearer understanding of certain issues and topics. What makes this festival so unique is that it was launched in 2010 in South Africa through the partnership and association with the Lausanne movement, where over 4500 International Christian leaders from over 200 regions in the world were introduced to the festival. This opportunity has established great relationships to ensure future growth of the festival. Through our continuous efforts and with a truly global reach the festival aims to inspire Christian leaders to make use of films to evangelize, teach & transform their communities. This festival sources films from across the globe and then the same film festival program is presented in different host nations around the world. This festival has also been endorsed by a selection of internationally recognized leaders and role players.TSICFF is not only a film festival, its part of a global revolution encouraging film makers to produce films that will transform communities for the good!We encourage all to mobilize their churches, ministries and communities to support this festival! Dimension 3

Dimension 3 2011 reaffirms its ambition to offer a networking platform, by gathering together professionals who offer new tools, products or services and those who are looking for solutions or new practices in the field of images, from creation to visualization. Efforts should be made to avoid trivialization and give creation a prestigious image, be it stereoscopic 3D, mixed reality, haptic technologies, ultra-high resolution, etc.
Technology should make images smarter, but also continue to be a vector for emotions: creators must hold a prominent position at the center of this issue. In this perspective, Dimension 3 new edition also provides a place for young creators to showcase their talents, offering opportunities and creating vocations. This year’s event is spread out across two venues, one of which is dedicated to the ecosystem of images from filming to visualization, the other to new uses and talents.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lewiston and Auburn, with a rich history and bright future, is the perfect backdrop for a film festival. As you walk from one town to the other, across the bridge and over the mighty Androscoggin River that cascades over the Great Falls, you’ll see both our past and our future: Our past in the worn red brick mills that line the river, and our future in the enterprising new businesses that now fill them. We are the second largest community in the state and continue to grow every year.

Instead of sticking you in a traditional cineplex, each location participating in LAFF is doubling as a theater for one day only. These locations will host either an afternoon of movies or an afternoon of workshops. One ticket will get you in to all of the movies and workshops.

In the evening, journalist and author Eefje Blankevoort will host the talk show Zap Afghanistan, in which she discusses the impact of our own imaging around Afghanistan with various experts. Which images from Afghanistan were we never allowed to see? And what did Afghans like to watch themselves in the past few years?  Around midnight you can join in on a special edition of Rialto Laat, which transforms the film theatre into an Afghan club with several DJs and VJs, who mix traditional Afghan sounds and video-clips with steaming Western beats.   The Afghan Film Festival Saturday November 13th, 3 PM – 3 AM Film theatre Rialto, Ceintuurbaan 338, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Call for Entries
Features and Shorts
[And in case you're wondering, short films are 30 minutes or less. Features run at least 75 minutes. If you're in the middle...sorry. Maybe next year, we'll add a "long shorts" section to the festival!]

All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of hardened horror freaks - we'll get back to you, by December 23, 2010 at the latest, and let you know whether you've been accepted. If you want, we can also review the film in detail on TrashCity.org; that is entirely optional, but if you're looking to get buzz started, that would be a good way, since the site gets 1,000+ visitors per day. Let us know with your entry if you'd rather we didn't do that though, and we'll happily keep quiet.

What's in it for me, you say? Well, the winner of both the Best Short and Best Feature will receive a domestic and International distribution deal from Brain Damage Films and Maxim Media International. Other film distribution companies and studios are invited to attend and may be interested in your film. We are working with sponsors to offer a cash prize and we will post prizes when they are available.
There is no better way to get your film seen by horror fans. Other entries may also be offered contracts, if they're deemed worthy, but the winners get that as a guarantee. There'll also be an 'Audience Choice' award for the best single film, be it short or feature. We haven't quite worked out what the prize is for that yet though!

Any questions, please feel free to email us, at director@phxfearfilmfestival.com or you can call 602-399-9500, and we'll happily answer your queries.
