Whitby in Shorts International Short-Film Festival has been suspended indefinitely, as a result of the assertion by Scarborough Borough Council [SBC] that it has the "authority" to demand certification for all entries, or that the Festival applies for a blanket waiver, before any films can be shown in public in premises for which it has granted a licence: this the Festival is not prepared to do. http://www.freewhitby.org.uk/
