NYTVF's blog

The NYTVF was launched in 2005 as the industry’s first creative festival for television artists. A pioneer of the “independent television” movement, the Festival strives to construct a new and innovative path for program development. Where a film festival showcases completed works of art, competing for distribution and ready for the market, the NYTVF showcases ideas and talent, complementing the development process required for network, studio and branded entertainment development.

The NYTVF is the first creative festival of its kind, offering producers, writers, and directors the unprecedented opportunity to showcase their independently produced television pilots directly for network executives and general audiences.
The New York Television Festival is proud to announce it is now accepting submissions to its seventh annual Independent Pilot Competition (IPC). The 2011 festival will be held September 19th through the 24th.
This year, the NYTVF is thrilled and honored to announce the following awards:

IFC "Out of the Box" Comedy Award - Winner receives a $25,000 development deal from IFC.

MTV "Voice and Vision" Animation Awards -The awards will be presented to an outstanding comedic writer ("Voice") and animator ("Vision"). Each winner will receive a $5000 development deal from MTV.

FX & Apostle “There Is No Box" Comedy Award - Winner receives a $25,000 development deal from FX.

To Enter The Independent Pilot Competition:
The NYTVF accepts pilots from 4 to 22 minutes in length in all categories and genres, both scripted and unscripted, live-action and animated. Early submission deadline is May 11th, 2011. Final submission deadline is June 30th, 2011. For additional information, rules and frequently asked questions, visit www.nytvf.com <http://www.nytvf.com/>.
Along with the Independent Pilot Competition, The NYTVF hosts a variety of script contests throughout the year, and the annual Festival in September presents free screenings, production workshops, panels, red-carpet premieres, and other special events designed to honor television as an institution and as an art form.
Since its first year, the Festival has received hundreds of original pilots from independent producers and has helped them get deals with major networks, official representation, and industry recognition.
