VARIETY'S TEN EUROPEAN DIRECTORS TO WATCH AT KVIFF

The 47th Karlovy Vary IFF (June 29 – July 7, 2012) will present ‘Variety’s Ten European Directors to Watch’. This special category will be held by the EFP (European Film Promotion) and KVIFF and the ten selected films will be screened on July 1-2 at the Czech Republic Festival Center. These ten talented newcomer European directors chosen by Variety include: Timo Vuorensola (Iron Sky; Finland, 2012), Magnus Martens (Jackpot; Norway, 2012), Tom Kingsley (Black Pond; UK, 2011), Geoffrey Enthoven (Come As You Are; Belgium, 2011), Tim Fehlbaum (Hell; Germany, 2011), Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis (This Life- Some Must Die, So Others Can Live; Denmark, 2011), Sacha Polak (Hemel; The Netherlands, 2012), Ignacio Ferreras (Wrinkles; Spain, 2011), Nejc Gazvoda (A Trip; Slovenia, 2011), Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson (Either Way; Iceland, 2011).

The Slovenian film IZLET (A TRIP, 2011) by writer/director Nejc Gazvoda held its world premier in Sarajevo last year at the 17th Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF). The film screened in competition and was nominated for Best Film. After a year of touring festivals, the film has won numerous awards at festivals all over the world, including the award for Best Feature Film at its national Slovene Film Festival by the Slovene Film Critics Association. The film will screen at the 47th Karlovy Vary IFF (June 29 – July 7, 2012) in the ‘Variety’s Ten European Directors to Watch' selection. It is the first feature film for writer/director Nejc Gazvoda and likewise for producer Ales Pavlin of Perfo Productions.
