Into the Darkness

Into the Darkness (2011) by director Joel Bender is Film Planet Entertainment's latest acquisition, a gripping thriller with a haunting twist that promises to bring viewers into the dark with it. In an in depth interview with actress Dalal Bruchmann, we discussed her upcoming film as well as her skyrocketing acting/singing career.

ME: Dalal, first off let me say that your name is beautiful. Can you tell us what it means?

DALAL: Thank you very much for your compliment! You can find Dalal in many languages, in Farsi it means 'something fresh and new' in Arabic it has different meanings. One of them is 'touched in a loving way' the other 'sensitivity'. And what about yours? Vanessa, which I think means 'butterfly' right?

ME: Yes! Exactly! :-) So, Dalal, What can you tell us about Into the Darkness? As it is still in production, I know you
have to keep most of it a surprise but what can you tell us at this point?

DALAL: Into The Darkness tells the story of four friends- Ridge, Allie, Brad and Katelyn, who are reunited after a year apart. Their decision to embark on a short exploration of an unknown cave system turns into a horrific struggle for survival. There is a great twist at the end, which I am not allowed to give away... ;)

ME: And what is your role in the film?

DALAL: I play Katelyn, one of the four friends. Katelyn is a very sweet and loving character and I am sure a lot of people can relate to her and her story throughout the movie. She is the one that is kind of reluctant to go in the cave and the first one that realizes that there is something very wrong going on inside the cave. She also has a secret,
which of course again I cannot reveal ;)

ME: Awesome. You're driving me crazy with all these secrets. lol! Anyway, were there any special memories during filming that you can share with us? And, a burning question... What was it like working on set with the other talented cast members like Kiowa Gordon from Twilght Saga and Newmoon and Mischa Barton from Homecoming.

DALAL: The cast and crew of the movie is wonderful! Everybody has great energy and we are all very passionate about the project. The Producers Paul and Jade Moser from Moser Productions LLC are cavers themselves!
The filmmakers really know how to capture the beauty of nature. The locations are absolutely breathtaking and awe- inspiring. The waterfalls, the woods, the caves.... I remember I was so excited when I first read the script. I loved it because it was a captivating and full of suspense and surprises. I am sure at the end people will go 'Oh my God that did not just happen!!!'

ME: Ok, geting more anxious now... I cant wait to see this film!.. So, on another note... I know you are a multi-talented actress. What are your next projects? You are also a singer, right?

DALAL: I am currently recording in New York City and I am working with the Manager who launched Lady Gaga's and Britney Spear's career. My Single will debut end of this Summer and we are currently in preparation for my debut album. It is a very exciting process, I just love it. I also have some great upcoming film projects, which I am very excited about.

ME: Thanks Dalal. You rock! :-) I look forward to seeing you on the screen and on stage soon!
