Unifrance is an organization dedicated to promoting French cinema worldwide

It was founded in 1949 as an association under the French 1901 Act, and operates under the supervision of the CNC - Centre National de la Cinématographie.

Unifrance currently has around 600 members, including feature film and short film producers, sales agents, directors, actors, authors (screenwriters), and talent agents.

French award-winners

Il y a longtemps que je t’aime (I’ve Loved You So Long) won the Bafta
award for Best Foreign Film, while the company Thales Angénieux picked
up its third Sci-Tech Oscar in Hollywood.

 I've Loved You So Long  (I’ve Loved You So Long) was honored last night with the  BAFTA - British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for Best Foreign Film.
The debut film by the writer Philippe Claudel has doubled its French
attendance figures in international theaters, with 1.1 million
spectators registered in a total of 11 countries.
The film has been particularly well-received in English-speaking territories: 400,000 admissions in the  USA , 250,000 in the United Kingdom, and 50,000 in  Australia .

In Hollywood, the French company from Saint Etienne Thales Angénieux,
global leader in optical systems for the movies, has won a new
Scientific and Technical award for two high-performance zoom lenses:
the Angénieux Optimo 15-40mm lens and the 28-76mm lens, designed
particularly for handheld or Steadicam use.The optical engineer, Pierre
Angénieux, who founded Thales Angénieux in 1935, is the inventor of the
revolutionary Retrofocus lens, which made it possible to mount a
wide-angle lens on a single-lens reflex camera. Thales Angénieux has
already been awarded two Sci-Tech Oscars, the first in 1964 for the
design of the X10 zoom lens, and the second in 1989 for the company’s
contribution to the movie industry.


In France, these two award-winning lenses have recently been used for the production of Secret Défense (Secrets of State) by Philippe Haïm, Largo Winch by Jérôme Salle, Coluche by Antoine de Caunes, and both episodes of Mesrine, directed by Jean-François Richet.
