Taormina Film Festival's blog

The Taormina Film Fest, which will hold its 57th edition from the 11th to 18st June 2011, is Italy's premier summer festival. Under new direction, it has embraced a Mediterranean identity that aims to make Sicily the meeting point for film industries of the eastern and western Mediterranean. The festival is famed for its daily Master Classes and open-air screenings in the 2,300-year-old Greek amphitheater, including the red carpet premières of Transformers and M:I2. Combining the glamour of the Golden Tauro competition, the prestigious Taormina Arte Awards and the Nastri d'Argento with serious programming and finely curated retrospectives, it is a modern, rapidly evolving event in a spectacular natural setting.

TAORMINA CALL FOR ENTRIES 2008

CALL FOR ENTRIES

It's time to send a screener of your FEATURE FILM to the Taormina Film Fest 2008, taking place in Sicily from June 15 to 21, 2008.

Our deadline for submissions is MAY 9.

We are now accepting films for selection in the most exciting summer festival in Europe, a boutique showcase for just 20 new films to be shown to our audiences and distributors from around the world.

Once again we will privilege world and international premières, divided into the following three sections:

MEDITERRANEA:  Our Mediterranean competition – A selection of 7 films produced in the Mediterranean region will compete for the Golden Tauro for Best Film, which will be selected by the official jury. The award, which includes a cash prize, will be presented on stage at the Greek Theater on June 21 during the closing ceremony. Other prizes include best director, best performance and best technical work.

BEYOND THE MEDITERRANEAN – A selection of 7 films produced in countries outside the Mediterranean region will be screened. These films will compete for the Audience Award and a cash prize.

GRAND CINEMA in the Greek Theatre - Every evening a spectacular new film or event aimed at large audiences will be presented. To submit a film:

1. Download the Rules and Regulations and fill out the Pre-selection Entry form  or request them via e-mail to festival@taorminafilmfest.it

2. Send a screener (PAL, NTSC, SECAM) on DVD or video support to:

The films selected by the festival will be screened publicly twice, as well as for a select group of world film distributors and professionals invited to Taormina, who now know that 25% of last year's titles were subsequently selected to represent their countries in competing for an Oscar ® nomination in the Best Foreign Language category.
