Korean filmmakers, musicians, and actors, make up the 5th Annual KAFFNY happening THIS weekend in New York! 5 Full length features, 5 Talks, 29 Shorts, 6 films from Retrospective honoree, Dai Sil Kim-Gibson, and much more await you this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 18-20th! You don’t have to travel hours by airplane to get an education in Korean art, culture and film! Hop the subway to Chelsea Clearview Cinema, located at 260 West 23rd St. between 7th and 8th Ave, White Box at 329 Broome St, between The Bowery and Grand, or The Big Screen Project at Avenue of the Americas between 29th and 30th St, to meet unprecedented filmmakers, musicians, trendsetters, and storytellers. “I always liked art and movies because they took me out of my reality and into something else.”, states retrospective honoree, Dai Sil Kim-Gibson, who along with Mrs. Jung Hui Lee and African American Director, Charles Burnett, will be discussing her films on the LA Riots, “SA-I-GU”, (1993, 36min), and “Wet Sand: Voices from LA” (2004, 57 min). “There are so many neglected and forgotten people and issues that I think I can tell well.”, states Dai Sil Kim-Gibson.
