Golan Fantasy Comes True
The 40th International Film Festival 2012 FEST brought to Belgrade major filmmaker, Israeli director and Hollywood producer, Menahem Golan. Director who has signed close to 80 films, produced over 250 Hollywood and international films, had more than ten nominations for the "Oscar", whose works have received several "Golden Globe" awards at festivals in Cannes, Venice, Berlin ...
This remarkable man explained to us how the Americans entered the world of film with "good" and "bad" guy principal, never to win outright evil. Moreover, it is in the interest of the film to have simple stories to win audience, and that is why he has made the most popular productions in the world. European film, unlike the U.S., although intelligent and authentic, has its own philosophy, at very best; it can reach millions of viewers. In addition, there is a reason why what comes from America in cinemas around the world is understandable to everyone; and why it is fun for the public.
The question never to be answered by now is how many awards, especially the "Oscar" take to change the destiny of an artist? "Oscar" is, by nature, the best-known and most respectable prize in the competition for authors and artists from all over the world. When someone is nominated for the shortlist, it means that among the five most successful on the planet, and it is, nevertheless, something that is rarely challenged. I got "Oscar" for the film "The Avenger", a prize we brought an action and a true story from 1977, "Operation Thunderbolt", in which Klaus Kinski played the hijackers and the terrorist leader. "Oscar" gives "tail wind", but the most important work. I have often produced commercial films, to raise money for an art film, “explained the celebrated Golan.
A film is most expensive art on the Earth, and according to Golan considered as the most exciting medium, in essence, because it is fun. People come to cinema to spend money, laugh, shed a tear, imagine, learn something new or watch favorite actors. " The film does not preach, does not give lessons, regardless of whether it is a drama, comedy, melodrama, thriller ... It is only with a sense of what people take to the movies - if I do movie to laugh, and the crowd goes depressed, I did not fulfill the task, " explained Golan. Golan shoots this summer in Prague new film and he gives a message: "The film is the moment in which always creates a metaphor of the world, no matter what it is said. I think people today withdrew from the truth, the truth no longer has any value, and this is the worst that happened to us".
