Palm Beach Women’s International Film Festival PBWIFF's blog

Four women entrepreneurs with over 35 combined years of film festival experience have united to present the Palm Beach Women’s International Film Festival set for April 7 through April 10, 2011. The inaugural event will present an entertaining and educational platform to see and appreciate independent, American and international film seldom seen in commercial theatres. Although these full-length features, documentaries, and shorts are made by women directors and producers, they reflect universal, gender-free themes in addition to women’s issues and concerns.

The mission of the festival is to produce a world class film festival that will inspire, promote and support women filmmakers, is equally devoted to supporting and enriching local women filmmakers and to serve our community by contributing to the economy and its diverse cultural population.

Festival Welcomes Entries for Young Women’s Animated Films

As part of its mission to celebrate thework of women filmmakers, the Palm Beach Women's International Film Festivalhas invited young female student animators to submit their films in astudent showcase:  Animated Women.  The deadline for Student Animation entries is February 28th,2011. Filmmakers can enter at the festival's website, www.pbwiff.com, through Withoutabox.

The art of animation is much wider inscope than the worldwide-known cartoons, andformats such as stop-motion, puppetry, computer animation as well astraditional cell drawings have inspired the creative imagination of youngstudent filmmakers.

This year's PBWIFF celebrates animationin all forms thru films and an educational format including workshops, paneldiscussions and guest speakers. The festival takes place April 7-10 at variousvenues in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Itis PBWIFF's goal to raise the visibility of animated films made by womenartists who cross regional and generational boundaries and to provide a meetingplace for female student animators from around the world.
