LA Greek Film Festival Announces New Dates and New Executive Director

The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival announced this week that the new dates for the 2012 event will be May 31-June 3, 2012.

After the great response we had last year, we are aggressively moving forward to not only expand our film program and events, but to also add to our great team of professionals,” commented Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Ersi Danou.

“I know much of our success comes from the devoted staff and volunteers who are returning again for 2012. To help us take the Festival to a higher level, we have secured the services of Craig Prater as our new Executive Director. Craig comes to us as the former Executive Director of the Palm Springs International Film Festival where he served with entertainer Sonny Bono for 7 years, followed by 3 years working as the Executive Director for the Bangkok International Film Festival, and currently the Consulting Director of the Conga Caliente Latino Film Festival in Tampa, Florida.” continued Danou.

Highlights last year included the world premiere screening of BURNING HEADS, the US premieres of Orpheus-winner KNIFER and the documentary MY SWEET CANARY with the attendance of respective directors George Siougas, Yannis Economides and Roy Sher. A total of 21 films were screened which included features, documentaries and shorts from Greek filmmakers around the world.

In addition to showcasing Greek films and culture, the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival works to expose visiting filmmakers to the entertainment business. Last year’s special panel offered attendees some insight into matters of marketing and distribution for foreign films.

Updated information about festival events development with highlights will be continuously added to their web site (www.lagreekfilmfestival.org). For more detailed information about film submissions, sponsorship opportunities or special events, contact Craig Prater at  760-831-7349.
