Film Division to pay homage to Mani Kaul on 6th & 7th July

REMEMBERING MANI KAUL

Mani Kaul, the master film maker who
is credited with radically overhauling the relationship of image and form, of
speech and narrative, and space and time and whose films have been hailed as
the formal experiments in Indian cinema and well ahead of their times is being
fondly remembered by his friends and admirers on 6th July, 2012 on his
first death anniversary.

Films Division, for whom Mani Kaul
has made nine documentaries including the widely hailed Siddheshwari and Dhrupad,
is organizing a two-day programme – with nostalgia sessions and screening of
Mani’s films – on 6th  and 7th
July, 2012 at its theatre in Mumbai and a day’s programme at the FD auditorium
in Delhi on 6th July.

            Jahnu Barua, Udayan Vajpeyi, Piyush
Shah, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar, Sharmishta Mohanti, Lalitha Krishnan and Siddharth
Sinha will share their “Mani experiences” with the audience in the first
session starting at 11.00am at the FD theatre, Mumbai. His documentaries as
well feature films, Uski Roti, Mati Manas
and Duvidha will be screened on 6th
and 7th July.

At the FD auditorium in Delhi, the
programme will start at 3.30pm on 6th July with Mani’s friends and
contemporaries;  Ashok Vajpeyi, Raman
Chawla, Gattoo Kaul and Rita Kaul (Mani’s sisters) and Gurpal Singh will recall
their association with Mani Kaul followed by screening of his documentary
films.
