Gabriele : " I come from a small town in Italy and had no connections in Rome, so I started sending out demos of my work and got an offer for a film in Hong Kong. PANG saw it and one of his agents contacted me. When I read the first three lines of the synopsis of DREAM HOME, I really went for the idea and made up my score from there.
The nice thing about working with PANG is that he never interferes and lets you get on with your own thing. I was initially afraid that my classical education would not be suitable, but it turned out to be no problem." Helen Dobrensky to PANG Ho-Cheung : Beyond the action and gore -horror genre setting of your film, did you intend a strong social message on housing and did your film have any effect or repercussions on government policies to remedy the obvious drastic situation ?
I mean, the girl in the film had to kill eleven neighbours to be able to afford the fallen price and even after that, the bedroom was too small to fit a bed in ! Also, it is peculiar in the Chinese culture, that a property unit loses considerable value if someone has died in that unit or on the same floor of a building. In fact, if someone falls down, say, from the 20th floor to the 11th, nobody living on the twelfth floor will budge to save him. The police have to get someone from the twelfth floor to help them save the victim.
