UDINE . In the heart of SAN DANIELE and Modern Living technology of CASA ZERO ENERGY

In the heart of San Daniele

Next, we go to the Prosciutto Morgantic rustic showroom in San Daniele.

The Morgante family and the Friuli region have been part of the history of the company since before the first half of the 19th century when it all started with Luigi, a trader in Tarcento (Ud). His son Cesare later opened a butcher’s shop and his grandson Olvino learned the art of meat processing. The industrial structure of the company, based in the lowlands of Friuli, in Romans d’Isonzo, was consolidated in the Fifties.

In the following years the exponential growth of the company led to the establishment of the Prosciuttificio on the hills of San Daniele; this area has a characteristic microclimate thanks to the air currents from the north that on their way along the bed of the Tagliamento River meet the air coming up from the sea. The result is a unique and unrepeatable condition which is fundamental for maturing the meat.

LE VILLE plus - Casa Zero

“I have always lived in this green land, illuminated by candid snow and caressed by sparkling lagoons, surrounded by cliffs overhanging the sea, where the days pass gently, seduced and enchanted”. (Anonymous)

These words have inspired the company’s philosophy: Gruppo Polo Le Ville Plus means deep respect for nature, excellence in the sector of eco-sustainable buildings, roots in a deeply loved territory. In addition, the company has a great passion for history, in particular the Middle Ages.

The company operates in the eco-sustainable building sector not only as regards new buildings but also applying know-how and technologies for the renovation or upgrading of existing buildings, such as villas, offices or sports facilities.
The passage into the future is represented by the Casa Zero Energy (zero energy house), a building made of wood and carbon neutral, capable of self-producing all the clean energy it requires; it features a specially developed home automation system. It has been selected by Legambiente (environmental association) as eco-friendly innovation and was presented at the World Sustainable Building Conference held in Melbourne in 2008. The clean energy systems integrate solar and fotovoltaic pannels, geotermic system, heat pump,  floor heating systems, integrated pellet thermo stoves and a winter garden. A dedicated domotic system manages it all.

This itinerary highlights the experience and competences acquired thanks to the long collaboration with the University of Trento and the vision of a company with a mission based on sustainability and quality of life.

The Casa Zero Energy is a natural habitat, built for man, and designed for the environment - a research project which aims to design and build a neutral smart building  and able to guarantee the best comfort. It has a lamellar wooden structure with wood pannels and local materials are used or recycled as much as possible (i.e. like stones, ancient bricks) and only natural materials are used.
