11th Brazilian Film festival in Paris set to start end April

Brazilian Film festival in Paris

Brazilian Film festival in Paris.    Spring is around the corner, bringing with it the eleventh Festival du Cinéma Brésilien de Paris to be held as usual in the Latin Quarter at Nouveau Latina theatre from 29 April through 12 May, 2009.

 

 

Discover new fiction film from 29 April to 5 May) and documentaries (May 6th-12th).

Fiction Awards designated by a professional Jury will go to Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress at a ceremony to be held on May 5th.

This year will focus on the 50th Anniversary of the Birth of Bossa Nova and on the 100th Birthdate of anthropolgist and lover of Brazil :

Claude Levi-Strauss.

Three documentaries will relate the years of the Bossa Nova and the life of two of its famous protagonists : Coisa mais linda by Paulo Thiago ; Vinícius by Miguel Faria and A casa do Tom by Ana Jobim.

 

The fascinating documentary Claude Lévi-Strauss, auprès de l’Amazonie, will offer an opportunity to listen to the famous scientist closely connected to the Indians of Brazil of which he talks in a pragmatic and affectionate way.

Other fiction films to be shown are Os Desafinados,
by Walter Lima Jr., who celebrates Bossa Nova in his own way, about the adventure of five friends who form a musical combo … or Chega de Saudade
by Luís Bodanzky, who introduces us to the old-fashioned but cosy image of a Sao Paolo Dance Hall.
