Heart of Gold's blog

Over 4 days in Autumn, the Heart of Gold International Film Festival combines the genuine warmth and hospitality of a country town with Local and International films that are entertaining, thought-provoking and express a positive view of the world and humanity.

Entering its fifth year, Heart of Gold is quickly gaining the recognition and size to establish itself among the best competitive short film festivals in Australia.

The Festival is in the regional Queensland city of Gympie,  just a  two hour drive north of Brisbane, along the Bruce Highway and a short 45 minutes drive from the beach at Noosa Heads.

170 films from over 24 countries mean audiences can view a quality selection of some of the world’s most extraordinary and uplifting films.

From a single 90 minute session, to a day or the full four days; audiences can meet the film makers, take part in seminars with leading local and international guests and; while the films wash over you simply sit back and enjoy the relaxed ambience of this picturesque gold-mining town in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Heart of Gold International Film Festival

Heart of Gold International Film Festival encourages films that are entertaining, uplifting, thought-provoking and express a positive view of the world and humanity. The March 2011 Festival will feature an extensive short film program and a limited number of feature films. There is also a range of special events, seminars, master-classes and intimate 'meet the filmmaker' sessions. Now in its 5th Year, Heart of Gold International Film Festival's 2010 Event was our most successful festival yet, with filmmakers attending from Australia and around the world. Festival Director Malcolm Blaylock continues in the role for 2011, and the Festival is set to become one of Australia's most dynamic and exciting film events.

The Festival is held in March each year in Gympie, a historic gold-mining town nestled in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
