Diagonale 2010 - the Festival of Austrian Film - has opened on March 16th in Graz. From now on you can download various press material (press kit, press releases, filmstills and press photographs) here.The guest list is available here. Programme online now.

This year's highlights include:

+ 103 films in the selected programme: a selection of Austria's current best feature, documentary, short, experimental and animated films as well as videos with lots of discoveries.

+ Spectrum: 8 international co-productions with substantial creative input from Austria

+ Tribute Peter Schreiner

+ International Tribute Romuald Karmakar

+ Historical Special Programmes Mansur Madavi and Günther Krampf

+ Special Images of Protest

+ Additional programme: exhibitions, workshops and discussions

+ Celebrating Austrian cinematic culture: opening night gala presenting the actors' awards, award ceremony presenting Austria's most important film prizes, numerous receptions, Diagonale Nightline.

Festival Director Barbara Pichler about the programme:
"The Diagonale programme reflects current Austrian filmmaking. The image created is one of impressive diversity and quality. Every film is an engagement with cinema, with story telling techniques, each an individual view of the world. In this way we maintain the productive interaction of different filmic forms, a personal engagement with the filmmakers and their works, at the centre of the festival. Diagonale has set itself the goal of a vibrant relationship between the films and the audience, an open, and hopefully ever surprising discourse."
